E-paper grows 800% in Q-1

Savvy buyers touch base at DISPLAY Taiwan 2010!

Taipei, Taiwan May 12, 2010: DISPLAY Taiwan 2010, one of the world’s top 3 professional FPD expositions, kicks off June 9^th. This year, more than 200 domestic and international exhibitors including such trade all-stars as AU Optronics Crop (AUO), Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) and CORNING, have signed up for this great annual event. The show features the hottest products and technology of the industry, including e-paper, 3D display, digital signage, touch panels and more! The uses opened by this new tech will bring Taiwan’s flat panel display (FPD) industry to scale fresh summits.

Scouting trends in FPD…

Currently FPD production occupies 73% of Taiwan’s photonic industry. Its 2010 first quarter production value had reached $322 billion NT, a 72% growth on to the same period last year. DISPLAY Taiwan provides a platform for both domestic and global manufacturers to showcase their latest innovations and newly developed technologies. Better still, recent 3D blockbuster flicks such as Avatar have opened a new era for 3D display.

Japanese manufacturers have announced that they’re going to launch 3D TV this summer.  Also, Microsoft Win 7 as well as Apple’s iPad is once again spotlighting touch panel technology. Another trend not to be overlooked is the growing popularity of e-paper. Increasingly larger numbers of manufacturers entering the market have launched their own e-paper products. In fact, the first quarter of this year has chalked up a 803% growth in e-paper production value compared with the same period last year, and it is estimated that such growth will continue to soar. Based on these industry trends, the DISPLAY Taiwan organizers have planned special areas dedicated to “3D Display Technology”, “Touch Panel” and “e-paper” to display the huge potential of the Taiwan FPD industry.
